    HPA Compliance

    1. Purpose

    This policy establishes ReGenesis Longevity Clinic™'s commitment to full compliance with the Health Professions Act (Alberta) and related regulatory frameworks governing the delivery of healthcare services in Alberta.

    The purpose of this policy is to ensure that all regulated health professionals and non-clinical staff operate within their legislated scope of practice, maintain professional accountability, and deliver services that meet legal, ethical, and professional standards.

    2. Scope

    This policy applies to all individuals engaged by or working on behalf of ReGenesis Longevity Clinic™, including:

    • Registered Nurses (RNs)
    • Nurse Practitioners (NPs)
    • Other regulated health professionals (where applicable)
    • Non-clinical support staff
    • Contractors, consultants, and administrative personnel

    3. Legislative and Regulatory Framework

    ReGenesis operates in accordance with, but not limited to, the following legislation and standards:

    • Health Professions Act (Alberta)
    • Health Information Act (Alberta)
    • Personal Information Protection Act (Alberta)
    • Applicable College standards, bylaws, and codes of ethics
    • ReGenesis Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA), as approved and maintained

    4. Clinical Roles and Responsibilities

    4.1 Registered Nurses (RNs)

    Registered Nurses practicing at ReGenesis:

    • Must hold active registration and licensure in Alberta
    • Practice within the legislated scope of practice under the HPA
    • Adhere to their professional college's standards of practice and code of ethics
    • Perform clinical activities only where appropriate training, authorization, and medical directives (if applicable) are in place
    • Maintain accurate, timely, and complete clinical documentation

    RNs are accountable for their individual professional judgment and actions.

    4.2 Nurse Practitioners (NPs)

    Nurse Practitioners practicing at ReGenesis:

    • Must hold active NP registration and prescribing authority in Alberta
    • Practice autonomously within their authorized scope under the HPA
    • Are responsible for clinical assessment, diagnosis, ordering diagnostics, prescribing therapies, and treatment planning where authorized
    • Ensure informed consent is obtained and documented
    • Maintain professional accountability for clinical decisions

    5. Non-Clinical Support Staff

    Non-clinical staff, including administrative, operational, marketing, and support personnel:

    • Do not provide clinical advice, diagnosis, or treatment
    • May support clinic operations under defined role descriptions
    • Must not represent themselves as regulated health professionals
    • Must escalate all clinical questions to appropriate regulated professionals
    • Are bound by confidentiality, privacy, and security obligations

    Role clarity is enforced to prevent unauthorized practice or misrepresentation under the HPA.

    6. Delegation and Supervision

    Where delegation occurs:

    • Delegation is permitted only where allowed under the HPA and professional college standards
    • Delegated activities must be appropriate to the individual's competence and training
    • The delegating professional retains accountability for delegated tasks
    • Delegation must be documented and regularly reviewed

    7. Privacy and Information Management

    ReGenesis maintains a current and approved Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) which governs:

    • Collection, use, disclosure, and storage of health information
    • Access controls and role-based permissions
    • Use of electronic medical records and digital platforms
    • Third-party service providers and data hosting arrangements

    All staff must comply with the PIA and applicable privacy legislation. Privacy training is mandatory and ongoing.

    8. Training and Competency

    ReGenesis ensures that:

    • All regulated professionals maintain current licensure and continuing competence requirements
    • Non-clinical staff receive appropriate training on privacy, confidentiality, and role boundaries
    • Policies and procedures are reviewed during onboarding and at regular intervals
    • Compliance training is documented

    9. Monitoring, Audits, and Reporting

    ReGenesis may conduct internal audits and reviews to ensure compliance with:

    • HPA requirements
    • Professional standards
    • Privacy obligations
    • Internal policies

    Any suspected non-compliance, unauthorized practice, or privacy breach must be reported immediately to clinic leadership and addressed in accordance with regulatory and legal obligations.

    10. Breach Management and Corrective Action

    Where a breach of this policy is identified:

    • Immediate steps will be taken to mitigate risk
    • Incidents will be documented and investigated
    • Corrective actions may include retraining, policy updates, or disciplinary measures
    • Regulatory authorities will be notified where required

    11. Policy Review and Updates

    This policy is reviewed regularly and updated as required to reflect changes in legislation, regulatory guidance, or clinic operations.
